However, this support does not come without an expectation of responsibility and adherence to international laws and standards of conduct. The loss of civilian lives in any conflict is a grave concern. Just as I am critical when the United States, or any nation, acts in a manner inconsistent with our values and international norms, I hold Israel to the same standard.
